What's  a CC#?

We've been getting questions about what is a CC# - So here's a nut shell discusion of:

The FISTS Award Program

The first Award is the Century Award, which you get by working 100 points worth of FISTS contacts.  You get one point for a QSO with a FISTS member in your own country and 2 points for a contact with a FISTS member in any other country.  And, you get 3 points for a contact with a FISTS Affiliated Club.  The number on your Century Certificate becomes your "CC" number.  The initials "CC" standing for Century Certificate or Century Club.

Century Award is the first Award.  Next is the Silver Award for 250 points, then the Gold Award for 500 points and finally the Diamond Award for 1000 points. Contacts count only once, that is repeat contacts can not be used.  But all contacts previously claimed may be used toward each higher Award.

Then there are the Platinum Awards.  First the basic Platinum for working 100 FISTS members who have "CC" numbers.  That's why the members give out their CC# and ask for yours if you have one.  Next the Platinum-250 Award for working 250 FISTS members who have "CC" numbers.  And finally the Platinum-500 Award for working 500 FISTS members who have "CC" numbers.

FISTS has the Worked-All-States Award for working a FISTS member in each of the 50 States.  Also, there is the FISTS-Rag Chewers Award for 100 QSO's with FISTS members, each of which last a minimum of 30 minutes.

Then there is the Mobile Award issued for working 100 points of FISTS contacts from a mobile.

And, there is the 1 X QRP Award for working 100 points of FISTS contacts while running QRP - 5 Watts or less.  And there is the 2 X QRP Award for working 100 points of FISTS contacts where both stations are running QRP.

Makes for a lot of wallpaper in the shack. - Hi!

Even though you get different numbers for the other Century Awards, you give out your basic Century Award number for the CC# for example:

K4UK has # 32 for the Gold Century Award and # 20 for Diamond Century
Award, but  gives out only his basic Century Award # 229 as his CC#.

To get your Basic Century Award you submit a list of the FISTS contacts which total 100 points to:

          Dennis Franklin - K6DF
          4658 Capitan Dr
          Fremont, CA  94536-5448

And, he will send you a Century Award Certificate with a number on it.  That's your "CC" number.  Dennis handles all Awards.

All FISTS Awards are on the honor system.  They take your word for the list being correct.  They figure if you cheat, you will have to live with the fact that you did.

So there in a nut shell is the Awards program of FISTS.  All certificates and very nice, and quite impressive.
